Church of the Highlands - The Shoals Campus


I was blessed with the opportunity to photograph the Church of the Highlands – Shoals Campus, a space designed to foster connection, worship, and community. Now open and serving its congregation, this 1,100-seat sanctuary provides a permanent home for a growing congregation that has been meeting at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center since 2017. With an average weekly attendance of 1,400, including many students from the University of North Alabama, this new campus will further the church’s mission of spiritual growth and fellowship.


Inspired by Muscle Shoals’ rich musical history and the flowing Tennessee River, the design features curved walls and natural materials to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The space is thoughtfully crafted to be multi-functional, allowing for both worship services and community gatherings. Every design choice reflects Church of the Highlands’ culture, ensuring a welcoming and inspiring environment for all who enter.
